Just playing around looking on AIS and have noticed a yacht up the Wye beyond Chepstow about level with a place called Botany Bay. 8m with 0.8 draught at anchor.

I thought it wasn't possible to get beyond the bridge at Chepstow?

Up the Wye with a mast and sail

It's tricky but as you can see - possible if you know the bridge heights and tides and can lower your mast to give an air draft of 5.5m or less. If anyone wants details please drop me a line. Would love to see more visitors up here and the scenery on the trip up the wye valley to Tintern is spectacular.

Its a Cat on owners moorings, I am led to believe! Drops mast to go under Chepstow bridge.

I noticed it on AIS live and thought it was on a trailer going up the A466 :)

I wonder why they leave it continually transmitting?

Security! Possibly keeps a watch via his computer! Just in case a tree coming down with the ebb takes him out!

Or possibly to see how many people talk about it on here?
Yes, I had a look and didn't realise Botany Bay was so close. :)
