Hello to all,
I was wondering if any one ran such a course in the S.Wales. I have tried the contacts in this monthls magazine supplement from the RYA but was wondering if there was anyone else. Many Thanks.

Why not do it by a corespondence course?
Seanavigate or Oceantraining both offer the Yachtmaster / Costal Skipper theory course on-line. Google them, they both have excellent websites.
It's typically between £320 & £350, includes 12 modules & 4 exams I think. Provided you are using it for pleasure you can do the exams at home unsupervised & submit them by e-mail, if it's for proffesional purposes you need an independent person to verify you did it in the time allowed & didn't cheat. Just like a passport.

Barry Yacht Club and Cardiff Bay Yacht Club do the Day Skipper. CBYC may also do the Yacht Master - best to check their website. Also try the Adult Education section of Vale of Glam Council

If you need any information on BYC or CBYC pm me

Well todate but one, may be doing one in Feb, which is a shame as up here in the hills I was looking for something to get my teeth into in the long evenings. It appears that some have trainer problems etc and Gwent adult education in the Vale said, that they had a big numbers drop in applications this year in fact I was only the second enquiery ! So they had to drop it. Maybe the correspondance courses are taking all the pupils. Whatever, I shall keep trying.
