Does anyone know the owner of Yacht Malard, who was in the vacinity of little Cumbrae island in the Clyde on Sat night into early sunday morning, 14-15th aug.
I would appreciate if they could get in touch with me.
Thanks, C_W

one 'l' or two 'll's please ?

:confused::confused::confused::confused:
I had not seen the name, only heard it over the vhf radio at around 03.30 - 0400 while rushing back to my mooring in order to make it to the Southern General, where my wife and I held the hand of a teenage girl who we had fostered for 4yrs and sadly died later that day from horrific injuries sustained on sat in a road accident.
Hence the reason for my thinking not been very clear right now.

Malard or Mallard ?

If Mallard, could be a Loch Fyne Skiff, Sail No 1037 with the Clyde Yacht Clubs Association ?

CW - I am so sorry. That is very sad. What a terrible waste of a young life to which you had made such a caring contribution.

Thoughts and prayers with you both tonight. And for the soul of the young lady.

Do you know if it was an American Yacht? I know the yacht if it was.

I cant say, radio speaker dident sound American.
I had to hawl anchor urgently as explained below, but after alerting the coastguard diverted to search for a rib who drifted out past me into the night with a broken down outboard and dissapeared.
After searching for almost an hour and not finding him I was informed by cg that he was taken in tow somewhere near little Cumbrae by Mallard.

Sorry to hear that sad news,

If the yacht you are looking for is the one I think it is then it belongs to Jeff Provan, he has a cottage down at Portencross and is currently helping out as caretaker on Little Cumbrae. It is a black hulled gaff rigger, Cornish Shrimper / Crabber thingey. I think he keeps it in the wee harbour at Portencross.

Thanks for that, I have heard of him and am sure he was the caretaker on the wee Cumbrae until very recently.
Thanks to everyone for your words of condolance.

Hello. I am aware of this post being very old. But i am pretty sure i own the boat you were asking about. Old wooden Loch Fyne Skiff built in Scotland in 1936.
