Yacht Insurance

Does anyone know if marine insurers will provide cover for good title when buying a yacht? The alternative for me may well be to employ a marine consulatant on a due diligence type contract to do the legwork for me. The purchase will be in Trinidad.

I have never heard of this being done.

I think it is unlikely, specially given the part of the world you are looking in.

My view would be any doubts in title donot touch it unless you can establish title.

If there are known gaps or doubts about the ownership it is unlikely that you will get insurance on this as the risk is known to be higher. it may depend hgow far back the gap is but if you are worried about the risk you can be sure as hell the insurabnce will worry and probably not stump up cover.
