At Banff Harbour late this afternoon and saw black smoke billowing approximately 2 miles offshore. With the binoculars we were able to see it was a yacht of 10 metres plus well ablaze. The Macduff inshore RIB had apparently taken 1 person off and were standing by along with several other craft. Eventually the mast came down and she continued to burn ferociously, a truly sad and distressing sight. No further information at this point I'm afraid - no doubt we will learn more soon.
