Hi there readers, Im looking for an alternative to International yacht enamel, I feel its very pricey to say the least (I know you gets what you
pays for) when you compare it to other well known paints. The local chandlers are a second mortgage job !!! and from the web with the post added on youre hardly any thing in.
David.

5/6 years ago did a quick makeover on a yacht before launching, with Brolac gloss.
Sold the boat after a season, since when it has been to Spain for three years in the heat of Marbella and now back in UK.

Although now ready for a repaint the owner has been delighted with the performance and will repaint with the same!

The job was also quick and easy with only the normal rub down first.

Weathershield?

My post a couple of weeks ago headed "What's wrong with good old paint?" drew replies about using Dulux Weathershield and other good ideas. Since then I have wondered if Weathershield would be hard enough but otherwise seems a good idea. I'd like to know what's supposed to be the big advantage of enamel over other more ordinary glosses.

Re: Weathershield?

On my fishing vessel I use oil based concrete/paving paint. 3 coats over bare wood, no primer. Paint is hard, dries quick and is easy to touch up.
