Yacht destroyed in blaze at Kip Marina

In storage on the hard - [speculation]I wonder if she had a heater or dehumidifier going while unattended? [/speculation] If so, would that be accepted as an "accident" by an insurance company?

Dreadfull situation to find oneself in.

Fire aboard Freya of Cowes, Inverkip

Thank you to those that have commented about Freya of Cowes sad demise. Freya was my fathers yacht and we are all devastated. She was a Malo 39, she was beautiful, and I think about 15 years old. Dad is the second owner and she was the jewel in his crown.

Freya has always sailed out from Inverkip and may only have visited Troon (if at all). There was no dehumidifier or anything that required shore power. Gas was off, as was shore power, battery isolaters were off once Freya was up on hard. It would be wrong to make any comment here at this stage, but we are satisfied with investigations so far. Hopefully we can post some answers here in the future once all proceedings are complete.

Again, I thank you for your kind comments.

Champers so sad to see Freya in such a state, she was always immaculate. My suspicion had been it was a firework thrown over the wall but told she was completely covered and don't think you would get firework vandals at 7 in morning.
