Looking for a reliable company to bring our new baby up to windermere from the south coast she is 30ft, fin keel pref some one local that wont empty my pockets or have you heard of a local trailer hire company has anyone used some one local that they can put me on to any help would br gratfully recieved thanks

I can highly recommend Jim Brett Boat Transport, based in Kent. Really nice chap, thoroughly knows his stuff and even better, he came in a lot cheaper than anyone else as he does not charge VAT. He moved our Westerly Konsort from Kent to Chichester, very happy with his service. His website seems to be down / undergoing a facelift but his number is 01795 668263 or 07860 713782

Whilst I understand your desire to keep costs to a minimum - go with a regular specialist - it might be heavier on the pocket but easier on the heart and mind.

Gilbert Brown of Hawkshead is local to Windermere and has (had?) regular runs to the South Coast. Did a good job on my boat delivering to Whitehaven at reasonable cost, but it won't be dirt cheap.

By road or sea? :)

Bit of a problem it would be to get it up the river to the lake if they chose the sea option - just a few obstacles  We had ours delivered from Barrow to Windermere last year by Browns so another recommendation. The crane at each end swallowed up most of the costs - I wouldn't imagine the extra mileage would amount to a huge amount more if you can get them on a return trip as early bird said.

It's a good time to be looking for a return trip at present as we are getting 3 or 4 biggish boats passing the house most days. Don't leave it much longer though.

I have no connection with them but they are definitely worth a call or e-mail.

Browns just took my Centaur from Windermere to the Clyde. To Whitehaven it was going to be £500, to Kip it was £780. The lifts each end cost as much as the transport.

Edit, They lost a lorry just before they moved our boat and Maiden had a lot of work for them including bringing 2 new 45'ers from the factory so they were dead busy. Carp firms aren't usually busy.
