Opinions please on the practicality of bringing a shallow draft (0.33M min.) diesel engined lift keel yacht (2.82M beam)with pulpit/pushpit supported mast (approx.2172 if above headht.,can lower to lay on the pull/pushpits ) through the length of the Kennet and Avon canal, down the Thames into the sea.
Appears to fit the published available air draft (2.3M)/width and length dimensions but particular query is the 'legality' in waterways terms of a mast that overhangs the 8.2M o/a hull by 1M at each end (or 2M at stern only-prob.more desirable). This assuming that the overhang is clearly marked during day and lit at night during any movement.
Any views will be much appreciated.

Thank you all.Not certain that this will proceed but a southern crossing or a northern crossing (emerging into the Humber),using only broad beam canals, might meet transport requirements and would provide a close view of some bits we've never seen. The height requirement would relate only to the laid down mast clearance (without spreaders) ,but there must be a requirement to keep a square-on track,as well as being central to the bridge,to enjoy the full height available,as Mikemanor touches on.The rudder is pivoted and would give steerage when dropped to 900.Have found http://www.barging.co.uk/mapuk.htm and http://www.canals.com/canaldatmet.htm to be excellent resources.
Many thanks.
