Yacht charter in Europe paperwork requirements

Has anyone in the hive in the past couple of years chartered a yacht in Italy ? My chum has day skipper and is applying for an ICC, however will he be asked for his VHF ticket as well ?

any experience of this gratefully received and anything else he may be asked for

Not done Italy but have several in Croatia. The VHF was required, yes. Plus ICC of course.

Check with the charter operator as to what is required. ICC and VHF is normal. there may, however be local variations as there is no "standard" European requirement.

VHF, yes, you need it according to the Italian authorities, if the charter companies ask to see it is charter company dependent. Here is the official Italian Q&A on the subject.
