Anything from 5% + VAT to 10% + VAT though the 10% is more often used if the sale "includes an overseas element".
You are most like to find 6% & 8% quoted as the "industry standard" due to YBDSA and such like!

8% it is then!

No, no, no, no. 6% and remember the only time it matters is if you are selling through a broker. If you are buying a brokerage boat you pay the price, the seller pays the brokerage, NOT you.

8% + VAT is their opening gambit hence 10% but I managed to get 7% on a £22k yacht sale in 2003.

You should also consider whether it is a sole instruction or not. E.g. someone comes directly to you and not through the broker, or via another broker.

Yacht Brokers desperatly need yachts to sell - My recent experience suggests they will all settle for 6%+ vat and many will settle for 5% and thats on multi brokerage = the only time you should possibly pay more is if you have the boat in their yard and they are doing all the showing and not charging a commerial fee to 'have the boat in their yard'...
Brokers without boats to sell are not brokers - if they will not negotiate = walk away
