Approx 26 foot, don't know the make and no photos as I was driving past. In the corner just north of Trafalgar dry stack (opposite Port Solent) . Will try and get a pic later if I can get off these work calls.

That's interesting Solent Boating has 10,000 members! I am not a member of Facebook so I can't access it, is that figure really true if so it probably explains why this forum is not as active as it used to be in the past. has all boating discussions migrated to facebook?

The one I saw on FB was definitely Langstone not Portsmouth.
I don't contribute to that group and don't think it impacts much on this place.... much prefer YBW although I would love to know what happened to some of my favourite contributors here, I miss their expertise. But its the Internet, people move on....

Pretty much yes. That’s just one of many forums on Facebook. There’s also sailing and cruising UK, I’m a member of Jeanneau owners and Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36.2 owners as well as Volvo Penta Marine Diesel. All quite active and useful.
Facebook is very transitory though so it’s harder to find things again once you’ve seen them.

Reddit is also a great resource for this stuff.

The post on FB says "Has anyone lost a boat off their mooring? It’s currently up on the rocks at the top of Langstone Harbour, next to the Farlington cycle path."
The picture shows a boat on a rocky foreshore, and seems to have a mooring buoy still attached to it. If that is correct, I suppose the ground tackle failed. The boat itself looks like a very ordinary small sailing boat, similar to hundreds of others that are moored in that harbour.

A shame. Looks tidy. A Macwester?
Well not that tidy with a storm catching corner unrolled. Where I am now I take the sails off between when away for a month or two but in most places it’s still worth reducing windage and anything that might cause the sail to unroll and shred.

Don’t and won’t do Facebook. What does it say?
I was the same until a couple of years ago but sadly dragged in kicking and screaming as I needed to sell a load of stuff prior to a house move. I found Marketplace invaluable (and free). I don't have any "friends" or pictures on my profile (other than the main one to identify me). I don't add comment outside any specialist groups (eg amateur radio, Solent Sailing, Hamble Village, Beneteau Owners).

It's been a very useful source of "stuff" and now I'm a convert when I had the same opinion as you less than 3 years ago.

They can’t be trusted and steal your data. If it’s free you are the product. I will not use it.

Anyway rubbish picture of the Portchester one. Couldn’t stop.
