We just came along the Shotley Rd and there was a yacht lying on it’s side in the lay-by at the bottom of the hill with some vehicles in attendance including a crane. Anyone have any knowledge? Appeared to be a classic wooden long-keeled vessel.

I drove past earlier on. The cab of the truck, that may or may not have been towing the boat, looked like it had been driven into a low bridge at speed. Nothing in news, so no idea if anyone injured.

i think it was being towed by 4x4 crewcab and it came off and hit lorry passenger side completely caved in i believe very lucky no one killed
lucky it didnt hit someone in layby as thats were the coaches wait for kid`s pickup and often a few cars there

I saw it earlier too. It was considerate of them to crash alongside the layby, as that allowed traffic to bypass the recovery scene. Have to say the trailer looked rather lightweight for that size/weight of boat.
