I was planning this year to put a Y valve in the Generator cooling water supply so that I can flush the genset with fresh water before I shut it down.

Trouble is I cannot find a suitable 15mm Y valve or Diverter valve. I would like to avoid using 2 ball valves connected to a y or T connector.

Has anyone come across such a thing? No luck so far on Internet - buy I am probably asking for the wrong thing.

Thanks Vic - ordered. Been meaning to set up a fresh water flush on the generator for years - damage probably done already!

There's no freshwater flush on my engine; it's quite happy after fifteen years of use and I expect it to remain so for many years to come.

Is the generator designed to be raw-water cooled?

Pete

Its a Paguro Genset - raw water cooled - It may indeed have been designed for raw water cooling, but in the absence of anodes - I am sure it will be better off being flushed out. We don't use it very often as the solar panels keep the fridge etc running - so hence the reason. If it was used everyday, I am sure that the salt water would be ok.
