Just bought an XM radio and can't get it to read the position from the Lowrence 3300c. According to Lowrence and XM I've connected them up ok. Any advice out there please.

I can't help, had written in myself the other week for help with my new XM and a Garmin 48, am in the same boat in that it should all work, but it don't, so am eagerly waiting for the boffins out there to solve your problem, and perhaps mine.
Cos, if they start talking about wiring looms and double negatives it will not take it any further for me, and I will need find a friend I have not used Yet!
Is annoying I do feel that with DSC it should be idiot proof since it cannot work without the GPS!!

Was in a similar predicament myself when I was trying to link up a Cobra VHF to a Garmin. Thanks to the advice I was given on the GPS Forum (Nigel Luther's brilliant idea) I found out that all I had to do was to 'instruct' the GPS to 'talk' to the VHF in a language that it could understand!
The solution was right there under my nose all the time. It was just a matter of choosing the correct protocol from the communications menu of tthe Garmin.
I am not familiar with your units but it could be worth a try. If you still do not succeed I would try the GPS forum; some very knowledgeable and extremely helpful people on it. It might be worth noting that I know practically aught about electronics.
Good Luck!

One of the most common questions we get is re Garmin.

As factory default the NMEA output is not on.
It is set to 2Garmin Data".
Whilst in this mode you will not get a display on your radio.

Press the "menu" button twice.
You then need to scroll down the the output settings then select "NMEA"

Your radio should then come to life with regard to position.

Hope that helps.
