A search suggests that these are throw away items but I though it worth asking again just in case anyway has had any recent success.

I'm needing a new fan motor as it has started giving off a strong 'electrical' smell and getting hot to the touch.
I can't find anything that looks even a close match on all the various repair/spares sites.

Any success stories to be told about finding parts or getting these things repaired?

P.S. the XM dehumidifer is a 'Promac ProEco2' - http://www.promac.com.cn/en/ShowProd.asp?Id=61

One of the worst products it has ever been my misfortune to own. Mine lasted 13 months from new, of which only five months were in actual use - and it was not that good when working. At 13 months old neither the supplier nor the importers were able to offer a repair.

I am pm-ing you with additional info.

For anyone in the same boat, I sourced a suitable fan motor on Ebay in the end.
It needed a very minor modification to the motor mount and to the start (or is it run?) capacitor wiring but still an easy job.

Up and running again for £15 - here's hoping for another 5,000+ hours of use.
