Just inherited a Xantrex 1800W 110V 60Hz inverter. Our yacht and associated elec equipment runs on 220/240V 50Hz.

Is there any internal rewiring or re-configuration that will allow me to do the conversion to 240V 50Hz.

We are in Malaysia so returning it to the manufacturer for conversion is a costly option.

The way they generally work is that the 12 or 24Vdc is used to drive an oscillator. The output of the oscillator is then fed into a transformer which steps up the voltage to (in your case )110V.
The 240V version would have a different transformer. If you are lucky there may be a tapping on the transformer marked "240V"but I think that is unlikely.
Getting a bit crazy now but you could get a 110 to 240V transformer and hook it on the output but you won't be able to do anything about the 60HZ unless you change the oscillator components.

I got a small 110v /60 hertz inverter from auction junk a while back. I maged to find the timing capacitor and it was relatively easy to get it down to 50 hertz. However this inverter had a switch mode converter to switch the 12v at about 100 khertz into a small transformer to convert to about 190v DC which was then switched to give 110 volts square wave AC.

It would need another high frequency transformer to give the higher 380 v needed plus new higher voltage rating switching transistors to give 240V AC.

In other words in this case forget conversion.
There are various designs of inverter so If the op's inverter does have a transformer for the 50/60 htz AC then this may well have another tapping for 240V. A 50/60htz trnasformer is identified as a big lump of iron leaves with a coil on it. While the high freq transformer is a lot smaller. Alternatively if the inverter feels heavy it may have a 50/60 transformer but if it feels reasonably light it has a high freq transformer.

Bottom line try to sell it back to the US. good luck olewill
