Arrived at Shotley crack of 11 am (having checked previously that the lock would be manned
thanks Debs
)
Greeted by:
- cheery lock keeper
- dense fog (Harwich & Port of Felixtowe invisible)
- freezing cold (decks frozen & slippery - as were the pontoons)
- and last but not least: no wind - whatsoever.
Mrs Guapa made it quite clear that she didn't fancy breaking a leg on deck whilst we were adrift in the fog.
So, ran heater and engine for a bit and had a X-Mas lunch fit for kings: hot soup and bread.
Don't think B ever imagined spending X-Mas like this when she met me 21 years ago.
Who says romance is dead
X-Mas lunch
I guess we've all been at the receiving end of one of those looks at one time or another.
Guapa in the cold & fog.
Next on the sailing itinerary: the migration up-river for winter on Thursday.
