Saturday evening in the queue to lock in to Chichester Marina with about 30 minutes before low water, I was hovering at the end of the marina channel when a moderately sized outbound yacht went aground and got stuck half way down the channel. No harm done and I guess they were probably only there for a couple of hours before floating off. They certainly seemed happy enough when I asked.

Anyway, as I waited another yacht came past me asking "are you aground?" before motoring on to take my place in the queue. My self deprecating reply "not yet!" had scarcely left my lips when they stopped still, never to move again (actually they weren't stuck long) as the queue cleared into the lock and I moved forward. Strangely , my offer to drag them off the mud was charmingly declined.
