Hi all, im new to this forum an could do with some advice.
Last year 28 october, i pulled a sunken boat out of the local estuary after some heavy tides. it turned out it had gone down on what looked like a scaffold pole size hole.
i contacted the police, the local clubs, and reported it to the reciever of wreck.
a year is up now and the quote from the website

"If the wreck was recovered from within UK territorial waters and no owner establishes a claim to the property within one year of it being reported to the Receiver, then it generally becomes property of the Crown and is disposed of at the discretion of the Receiver of Wreck through sale or auction, or offered to the salvor in lieu of salvage.

The Receiver is required to notify Lloyds of recovered property considered to be in excess of the value of £5000. "

as no owner has been established then the boat now belongs to the crown,i would consider it well under £5000. it is of no interest to anyone but me, i would like to keep the boat, and storage cost will be well in excess of the value
Has anyone any experience of this, thanks in advance for any help recieved

Together with a bill for the initial salvage ...

or offered to the salvor in lieu of salvage.

Damn I missed that one! Absolutely, very hard for them to refute that. Type up an official looking invoice & go chat to the guy you reported it to. The chances are he will have forgotten all about it & wonder why you are bothering him.

Just a thought, this isn't the boat of the famous "Battery Borrowers" recently made famous on this forum, is it?
