Second one is Amtrak crash near Mobile, Alabama. Widely shown on Discovery these days. Crew of barge tug allegedly claimed they just happened upon it and they never had a barge. Barge was found hidden up a creek with corresponding bridge collision marks and was traced to the tugs manifest. Collision happened due to a comedy of errors on the barge(took wrong turning), and thick fog at the time. Something like 47 dead. Bridge was knocked 3-4 inches out of alignment, but not enough to break continuity line in rails to warn driver/ stop train.

You can just imaging the helm stood there immediately after the event...... hair stuck upright..... finger nails forced deeply into the leather wheel trim.... lips pulled back.... manic expression in his eyes..... and SWMBO at his side yelling "you stoopid stoopid stoopid barsteward......."

How still did the crew stay waiting for the next tide, with the skipper

'hang on lads, I've got an idea, erm, erm'

Some spine-chilling pictures for a cold morning, Julie. I am particularly taken with this one because :-

.... because I can remember the Discovery channel showing her (Mighty Servent) picking up a similar load and I can distinctly remember thinking that she did not look at all stable. I would feel smug about predicting it if it had not had a tragic outcome.
