Wouldn't it be nice to have a workshop like this (and the skills to make use of it)?

Makes me bleddy sick to look at it, and I bet there isn't a burst tube of outboard grease lurking under the rubbish waiting for me to step on it, come to that there isn't any rubbish worth a damn.

I imagine my brother in laws workshop in Canada is similar.
Some ten years ago in his late 50s he was made redundant and returned to what had been a hobby cabinet making.
He had a workshop built in his back yard with professional wood working machinery as well as necessary hand tools.
Ten years on he produces anything from beautiful little boxes to kitchens having revived some traditional Canadian designs as well as working with reclaimed Canadian timbers.

All it needs is a decent radio system piping through R 2 & 4, and most importantly a serving hatch so SWMBO doesn't have to walk far with the tea, coffee, bics and for that matter roasts ! :)

I cannot believe that middle aged plasterers still want to listen to Radio 1, I get in early and put on Radio 3, it takes a half hour before they notice.

Middle aged people with taste listen to planet rock or team rock radio, dullards listen to heart, if you listen to radio 2 you might as well be dead already.

Dunno who the plasterers may be, but I'd certainly notice if ' Radio 3 up oneself ' was turned on !

Planet rock and Heart are for boys outside Halfords, while Radio 1 solely caters for car thieves with back to front baseball caps who can't speak English and / or walk and chew gum.

That is the end of this public service announcement...:)

radio 1 is full of unintelligible gibbering morons, radio2 is mostly bearable but absolute does it for me. Good mix of new and old rock for grown ups. Only on dab or am though.shame.

I am in the process of building my workshop from which I will then rebuild my house. Once I have finished that I think I will make a rowing boat or a small trailer sailer. I would love to make a full 30' plus boat including casting all the metalwork but it might have to go on my 30 year plan. One of the most important things for a shop is having inbuilt dust extraction. Most of is are prone to ignoring dust but it does have serious health implications and a good extraction system is important as well as air filtration.

Has to be Smooth radio for me,
I know all the words to the songs they play. As for the workshop, 3yrs to build, I'd have built 2 boats by then under tarpaulins:encouragement:

Couldn't agree more.

But noise can destroy your hearing. I only wish I had started using ear muffs many years ago. I used to see my neighbors with earmuffs when they were mowing the lawn and I thought they were a bit weird. Now I find it difficult having a conversation with my Grand kids.

I have partly knackered ears from years of aircooled Lister engines, one was a 4 cyl 36hp, nightmare, now if a sharp noise goes off it's like having a nail jammed in my ear.
My son in law is a sound engineer and takes very good care of his hearing, top of the range ear plugs which are visible. Some moron at a gig thought it a good joke to take one out for him, he caught the guy's wrist and gently took it back and replaced it, moron reaches again..."If you do that again I will hit you in the face" he did so he did, he's a Karate black belt.
