Just a big shortage of sencible questions, to give daft answers to. Or to sencible questions, that need answers that wot we dont know. So leave it to the clever ones.

Personally, working all hours to keep ahead of the wife, and leave some money over to pour into that hole in the water.

Well my wife had her credit cards stolen, but I didn't report it for months. The thief spent less than she did.

Well I\'ve been busy!

So there I was in the office, excited that my boat was going in the water. Checked up with the haulage company to see that all was going to plan. "We're picking it up at 13.00hrs" she says. "It was supposed to be 15.00hrs" I say. "That'll be too late," she says, "we want to miss the traffic". So I dash down to Eel Pie Island to prepare everything. The slip has a 60' bolster barge in it and a stack of piping stopping the truck getting in anyway. I phone the boathouse. "Where did this f***ing barge come from?" "What barge? Oh that barge, it's moving at high tide". "But that's at 18.50, boat's going to be here at 16.00!" Re-arrange to lift boat over a wall directly into river further upstream.

Truck arrives with a couple of feet of tide to go but they are happy to go for a cup of tea and wait. The crowd starts to congregate including Trevor Bayliss of wind-up radio fame smoking his pipe. Wander if he could invent a wind-up battery charger? As the water reached the road, we dropped her in and towed her across onto the slip on the island - the first time she had seen water for at least 2 years. The whole operation went like clockwork, even Trevor was impressed.

Now the hard work begins. Fix the engine, service the leg, re-wire, antifoul, paint topsides and ask you kind people loads and loads of questions. I can only request you patience and thank you in advance.

First question - what is the best wood for a drinks rack?

Start a farting contest in your office, we're all very childish and think it very funny, have now even recorded one with laptop and it plays fart.wav each time an eamil arrives.

......girls, girls, get back, please, one at a time......

But then in the same vein B1, you've kept very quiet about your cable trouble, so you could start the ball rolling and tell all. Is it fixed or what?

Oh and I think you're signature line's one of the best. Makes me snigger anyway. Suppose you could have added at the front, "We're marine professionals....".

Yes - Tony, your right - it is most noticable at weekends when things go quieter !!!! So "out on the boat" may well have something to do with it.

I think it must be something to do with "critical mass", i.e. we actuallly need a certain number of "regulars" who contribute - Missing Byron already !!!!

Glad to see you responded to the "Holiday Club" post. Knew you would :))

Don't call me "Ian"

Re: Well I\'ve been busy!

'Cause it went in the water to get to the island. It is now on the slip for a couple of weeks with great access to do the antifouling and the engine (and unfortunately a large selection of pubs that I haven't tried yet).

Sorry boatone - I haven't been online much this last week because I'm a bit of a shaking wreck at the moment. You see the problem is I'm cruising in company with Barryd this weekend to Brighton (Paulineb territory)and I'm sure it's going to get messy. Oh and I'm in shock cause my boat has just had it's first service (48 hrs) and I have a bill for £380. £380 and I've only had it a couple of months.....$hit this is an expensive hobby!

Politically incorrect and proud of it.

Re: Well, I\'ve been

too busy doing mail shots and riding my bike for charity - 274 miles over two weekends and $ 3,500 raised so far:). Did get out on the boat yesterday for a lunch trip and cruise around the island, though. She needs a prop and bottom cleaning though. Stuff grows like crazy now that water temp is in mid 70sF.
