Neighbours of mine have been given a strange object by the widow of a sailing type, who thinks it's something boating. They have asked me if I can identify it, but I haven't a clue.
The whole thing is about two feet long and looks like this:
It's made of anodised aluminium. The ring at the RH end can slide along the tube, but has a tang running in the slot which prevents it from rotating or coming off. The block which runs in the slot move freely and does not engage with the holes. Here's a close up of the interesting end:
The metal bracket as two sheaves and a jamming slot for thin (3mm?) line, but there is nothing else on the thing looking like a block, sheave or pulley, so perhaps part of a tackle is missing. The end can be removed and says "Made in England" but has no maker's name.
Any bright ideas? I suspect it's nothing at all to do with sailing.
