We have an 8m Formula sports boat which keep near Toulon. We are going there in early April - is it worth putting it in the water or the weather/sea not worth it? Costs about £500 to put in, take out, clean up etc. Toulon is on the coast about 40 miles east of Marseille (about 50 mile south of St Tropez etc).

...or best to wait until June - August?

We're often in SoF around that time of year and the weather is usually mixed. Can be very good. Can be cloudy and a bit on the breezy side.

If you don't, you know it will be great weather.

If you do, who can say?

how much in advance you must decide for the lift in ?
You can look at windfinder (or any other weather prediction)
and then decide at the last moment.

we had some beautifull nice weather in october, december and january, in that area,
some day's perfectly flat sea,
but a few day's later too bad to leave the pub....

Toulon is at a corner between Golf de Lion and Code d'azur as you might know
some day's going more east, further then hyères, you have completely different wind, a lot less then on the west side of Toulon.
and occasionally it is the other way round.

in which port is your boat ?
next summer, we have a reservation in Toulon Old port,
we have been cruising that area many times.

As others have said, it's touch and go. It can be in the 20's temp, with sun and calm seas, but could also be cold, wet and windy. Either way, the sea's too cold to swim in that early in the season. I guess it depends how much £500 is to you.
