There used to be a Moody 30 based in Dartmouth called Don't Panic. I always wanted to hear her being called on the VHF by the frigate from Devonport at that time called Sirius.

The story also goes that one of the Fred Everard fleet called Amity broke free from her mooring on the Thames one night and collided with the training ship Worcester. The following night a bunch of cadets armed with paint pot and brush went alongside in a boat and painted CAL in front of her name.

Motor Boat and Yachting mentioned a boat called "Arm and a Leg", some years back and speculated about VHF traffic:

"Solent Coastguard this is Arm and a Leg, over............"

They also published a picture of a bunch of good Ol' boys in the States, heading out for a beer and fishing trip in a boat with the name "Our Wives Think we're Down at the Hardware Store" painted along the topsides.

Back in the 80's, someone in Denmark called his boat "Coitus Interruptus" didn't mean anything in danish, but someone in England got upset about it when he called on the radio "this is Coitus Interruptus calling" I wonder if he "Pulled" the name. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A few years ago I saw a big boat about to take part in a race, it was called
"Simplicity" and it was anything but. I have never seen so many ropes, winches and pullies before. Unfortunately I had no camera with me.

There was a piccie of a big mobo in Sydney harbour with the owner sitting on her, glass of fizz in hand pointing to the the transom. Name....'And she got the house'.

'Hoof Hearted' - unfortunately on a dinghy. Would love to have heard: Hoof Hearted, Hoof Hearted this is Solent Coastguard.... and reply: 'Solent Coastguard this is Hoof Hearted' on Ch16!

IOW ferry recently heard requesting QHM for backup from the Portmouth harbour patrol after a yacht obstructed the fairway - named 'Sorry'

Seen at East Head recently 'Extractions' and its tender 'Cavities' no prizes for guessing how that got paid for!
