Mates,
Been a bit worried lately and im asking for your expertise . Own a new OB 115 and yesterday while kids where swimming decided to tilt the OB to maximum angle in order to clean from sea weed etc. When decided to leave bay, started on the OB and moved few metres( plus idling for about 3 minutes) and as i looked at the trim gauge noticed gauge marking full up and immediately lowered the ob.
As i could remember i dont know if after cleaning i lowered the ob just to have intakes in water( maximum cruising angle upward position thats why gauge marked full up) or left it as it is with the prop out of the water. Thats my dilemma.
After the scare i tried to evaluate if OB had been started and used few minutes with water intakes out of water. While thinking, i assumed that if prop was out of water boat would not move. Therefore i think it was only tilted as maximum cruising angle therefore intakes in water.
Also lets say OB was fully tilted up my settings allow the lower water intakes to be in water BUT not all intakes under water. Half of intake would be over waterline.
Lets say in the worst case scenario i used the ob Tilted full up ( Trailer mode included) and not all intake was covered with water, what precautions should i take? Should i worry? Motor ran fine back, no alarms nothing but this dilemma ruined my day by overthinking if i made a serious mistake in which i know Ob should have enough water supply to eliminate serious damage.
Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't worry in the slightest, I started mine up loads of times when it was out the water. The fact the noise of the exhaust didn't alert you probably means enough of the engine was in the water

Impellors are quite resilient to running dry for a few minutes at low speed.
On the couple of times where I had an intake restriction, things didn't start cooking until I tried planing.

As mentioned, the exhaust noise would be significantly different out of the water.

A cooked engine would likely smell too. Mine (blocked intake on 9.9) definitely did. It was fine after.
