I have just had the boat out for a bit of anti fouling and noticed that I can move the prop sideways about 2 or 3 mm. The wear It is not even, if you turn the prop half a revolution there is almost no movement. Also I can feel a ridge in the shaft ware it is worn. Do we think it would be OK to leave till winter as I don't want to spend the summer taking things apart. Underway every thing appears normal.

I spent a very interesting time replacing prop shaft and bearing last winter My old worn shaft clonked considerably while under way - if you don't notice any vibration, bumps or noises, I'd say it'll do for a while longer.

I have a similar situation, mine is a bronze stern bearing which is worn, it,s been like that for 2 years, since the boat was last out, it will wait till I come out in the summer in Spain.
