World shortage of Rubber?

I have been reliably informed that there are no saildrive gaskets in the UK. Keypart dont know when they will get any, Volvo not sure themselves but might supply next month.

Is this just bad planning or are we seeing a run on them this year?

Will someone please remind me in 7 years time to buy the next replacement gasket before I strip out the old one?
