Dear all,

My name is Sebastian Margetts I am making my graduation short film this year and was looking for a wooden yacht in and around southampton (hamble, etc...) to shoot interior and a few exterior shots. the story is about three people who embark for a journey to recover one of them's sight. Full information about the project can be given.
The shoot dates will be around second half of january beginning of february with no more than 4 half days of shooting.
The boat can be tied up and is not required to go to sea.
If you have any information on how i can get hold of this or are interrested in the project please contact me on

Thank you in advance

I don't know about Solent sailing, but on the East Coast I think you would find virtually all wooden yachts laid up ashore in Jan/Feb.

The winter sailors mainly have GRP steel or perhaps ferro yachts.
Certainly I know no owners of wooden yachts that keep them afloat in the winter.

Hi I have a wooden yacht on the east coast, and have owned
it for two years and it stays afloat all year apart from 2/3 weeks out for maintanence.
I have always been told to keep wooden boats in the water to prevent them from drying out and opening up ,have i been ill advised? re the original post sorry Iam not in southampton area.
