What experiences if any do you have of professional boatyards working on wooden boats? Or does everyone here DIY?
I'm looking at buying a 39' carvel pp on oak ketch and immediately putting her in for repairs: some new oak stanchions, a cabin side renewed in marine ply, corner pieces at the front of the coachroof, a new wooden hatch built and fitted, and some seating/stowage built in the wheelhouse. There's also some generic stuff: wiring, plumbing, painting and the like. I could do it nearly all myself I guess but it would take me ..................who knows how long and I've no desire to own a project, but to go sailing.

So - all recommendations, warnings are welcome. I'm in the South East and I'd rather not be too far from the yard, but all intelligence gratefully received.

Robertsons, Woodbridge, Suffolk

My (37ft, 1937) boat has been in their shed for fairly major surgery twice in my 18 years of ownership and I would go back again if she needed any more work.

Another recommendation - also based on work done - is Alan Staley at Faversham in Kent.

Both of these are serious wooden boat yards with proper equipment and a highly skilled workforce.
