Wooden boat survey

Hello

Can I have any recommendations for surveyors who specialize in timber craft but are in the Cornwall area? I'm looking at a 2.5 Hillyard (1951) near Falmouth. I have recommendations for good local surveyors but I want someone with specific experience of older timber craft.

David Cox has that reputation, I have used his services in the past and no several others who hold him in high regard for the survey of Wooden boats, and indeed own one himself.

You might profit from a chat with John Lilley of this parish. His knowledge of Hillyards is second to none. Distance may preclude him from any interest in a survey but he does periodically travel to Plymouth. I'm sure he will point you in the right direction.

Yes, John Lilley has been very, very helpful. In fact, he prompted me to join this forum. I saw his name on the Hillyard Owners Association website. As you say, the boat is too distant for him to survey, but he has already given me homework to be getting on with. Really fantastic.
