Wooden access door or panel

I am working on putting an access door to the under berth storage locker in the fore cabin.

Currently it only has a top access lift out panel and SWMBO struggles to lift the bedding and mattress, get the lid off and get stuff in and out. Thus it does not really get used.

I have found white plastic door and frame access panel kits, but cannot find a nice wooden one. Before I set about making one, or having it made, does anyone know if I can buy a kit - frame and door in lighter wood. Size is about 400 x 400mm

Why not use the piece you cut out as the door. All you will need is to edge both cuts and you can get teak mouldings to do this from K J Howells. http://www.kjhowells.com/TMP-PD

More expensive option is buy louvre teak door and frame from Howells 375x375 is £54 well made item, I have used them extensively in the past, quick and easy to fit, look the business, but they are not cheap.
Sometimes see them on ebay for less, worth checking every now and then.
Just a thought...
