wood hardner

Wood hardener if fine on a chair that might live in your house but is never more than a short term bodge on a boat that is going to go afloat.
The best example i ever saw was a 40 ft motor yacht built by Moody's in the 50's she started leaking around the heads area, We hauled her out on the slip at Mikes & it turned out the owner had poured large quantities of wood hardener into the frames & planking in the heads. Unfortunately it had not stopped the dry rot which had spread nearly the full length of the boat either way from that one point.
We had to take half of her side & bottom out & repaired it, to be honest we should have burnt the thing.
Any wooden boatbuilder will be able to regale you with similar tales.
If the wood is soft or rotten cut it out & put new wood in.
