There should be more women sailors in my opinion..
The wife pointed out at a boat show we were at 80% male, ok for her maybe, but less so if you are a single man!
I wonder how many women are single liveaboards , hmmm I don't know any..! Pity..

I didn't know magazines thought woman sailors modelled with moustaches. Maybe not that surprising really.

I once dated with a sailing lady, and I have to say that while she was physically keen, the trendency to a moustache & testorione were a bit off-putting; also having a Hillyard 2,1/2 tonner was a sign of poor choice, which made me wonder "what's she doing bothering with me ?! "

I resolved this by having a girlfriend who admits up - front she doesn't like sailing so I can get on with it with chums...a shame though as there are a lot of experiences I'd like to share, and it's not all slogging to windward in a Force 6 !

Swmbo, when I bought my wee boat, said if she ever came down to the boat, it would be with a drill - she admits that it looks quite nice - from a distance! ( and I did name it after her - Little Madam!)

Why are a lot of women so anti, not all of course.
I must say if the misses & I were to split, the 1st thing I'd do would be to move aboard, but I wouldn't date a 'bird' who didn't want to sail...

I'm the driving force behind the sailing in this family, I'm lucky that HWMBO joins in willingly! I will say, I have never experienced such chauvinism as that in the sailing world (not all the time of course) but I am proving myself over time, I hope.

Queer cattle, women...

I spent a few hours on Queensland's Noosa River in 2001, aboard a rented catamaran with my hot teenaged totty. The faithful blonde had flown for 24 hours to be with me. I thought this would be the ultimate romantic and exciting afternoon...

...but can you believe, when I explained the necessity to align the centre of effort with the centre of lateral resistance, and described the pressure differential or 'lift', by whose assiduous manipulation the sail's ideal aerofoil section allows greater velocity-made-good than merely drifting downwind relying on the wind's speed and direction...

...she said she wanted to go ashore.

And within three months, it was all over! Was it something I said?:(:D
