Well we got there and back! My first 'proper' cruise and what an adventure it was! Fantastic. Even the nasty squalls on Sunday afternoon were fun (after I changed my underwear).

In case you fancy a peek, it is on the video page in the usual place or here on YouTube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pw1auE42jU&feature=youtu.be

Hope you like it, a bit longer then usual but we were away three days!

Cheers all,

Steve

Fantastic. Well done Steve and James.

I know people with a bigger boat than yours that have sailed from Bradwell for 5 years and never been out of the Blackwater. This was a great acheivement. We applaude you.

Medway trip.

Great video chaps, struggled with the buffering but wanted to watch the arrival back home in the Blackwater.
The squalls off the Grain Medway looked very familiar - we had a lightening strike off there. Well done on a great trip well documented for those itching to get back on the water, great fun. As I posted earlier with a good weather eye and sound boat prep trips like this that extend one's horizons are just what sailing is about.
Well done once again and thank you for sharing this on video.

Well done and great video. Although I didn't take part in the cruise I was also anchored at Harty on Friday night. I didn't get there until late, about 10.45pm and was ready to leave before the boats around me seemed to have woken up, so didn't get a chance to say hello to any fellow Westerly Owners. I think you followed me away from Harty after I had gone a bit uptide to hoist my sails clear of the anchored boats. I thought you were catching me up at first, but I had already set full sail and as I rounded the Receptive buoy the breeze kicked in and I accelerated away not getting a chance to speak to you.

I spent the day exploring the Copperas channel and then along to almost North foreland before turning back and the breeze dying. I spent the rest of the day listening to the engine pushing me back to the Medway.

As MS is one of the gentlemen of this forum I know there was no malice in that comment!

We spent half our first season within the confines of the Medway (I can hear the rather you than me comments fom here....!) before heading to Ramsgate for our first long passage. The SW 5-7 that was forecast turned into the 5 luckily, as the Beaufort scale was only numbers on a chart at the time....

The Blackwater has so much to offer and it is indeed my favourite east coast river, I could happily spend a week or two daysailing it. After 5 years a trip to Harwich might be nice change for them though!

I'm glad the OP enjoyed his visit to MYC and congratulations on the passage.

Ah, that explains it

We assumed you were on the cruise and thought we would try to follow you. Lucky you left us behind otherwise you may have thought you were being stalked!

Your boat looked great leaving the anchorage.
