Wits End, Drastic Measures Considered

Which bit of South Wales are you in? Here in the Newport / Chepstow area there are plenty of real cheap moorings if you want to keep on using the boat.

We had a member who was given a boat and when he depoarted in a bit of a huff, he couldnt sell it straight away. DSo he bought a B& D power saw and chopped it into bits of a size the local dumpit would take. Cost him about £20 from memory for disposal charges. Sustect he left the mast in the deep grass and the engine went to another home. It was a 26 footer part completed project. Sad but we certainly have a number of old and valuless boats in the club.

After all, why should a car depreciate to nothing yet a boat keep its value for ever? Answer is it doesnt and old GRP boats become liabilities not assets as you have found.

I reckon your main problem is not having a trailer. At that kind of price a trailer and an outboard are expected. I know someone with a Leisure 17 who hasn't had a nibble in 3 years as his price is too high and he doesn't have trailer.
The mention of a substantial amount of work being required on what is a small boat doesn't attract punters, who may be novices, either.

Why shouldn't you lose money?
You've had the use of it and a car loses value hand over fist, so why not a boat?
