I have a fridge kit coming to convert my coolbox. The shortest & easiest route is to wire it to my 1/2/both switch(yes I still have it & I like it).I have a Red Flash starter battery on switch position one,& two 110 batteries as domestics on position two.Is it OK to do this & which terminals do I wire to.(I intend to put a fuse & a separate switch in the cicuit)
Thanks in anticipation

If you wire the fridge to the 1-2-Both switch's Common terminal (sometimes marked "Out"), you won't need a separate switch - it'll go off when you turn the batteries off. If you need the fridge off when you're using the boat, just turn it off using the thermostat. You'll still need a fuse to protect the wire.

This is what I have done, in order to keep the cables as short as possible.

I do not have a 1-2 both, but simple on/off main battery switches, I have a port and starboard domestic/starter (catamarangue). Simply the negative line goes straight to battery -ve.

The positive is from the main switch, in your case the 1-2-off. Between the switch and fridge I have an inline fuse (not car type, you can buy substantial crimp type in-line fuse holders) and a switch to allow us to turn the fridge off with out killing all the domestics. The switch by the fridge is important.

Use as heavy cable as you can, if your fridge is a waeco like mine they suffer terribly from power loss from poor cables, I learnt the hard way.

Hope this helps.

I've got a Moody (different model) and found a cable in the loom already running from the distribution panel to the cool-box area. Worth checking maybe?
I freed up a switch on the distribution panel, by wiring the VHF instead directly to the 1/2/both output. Preferred to see a specific switch on the panel for the fridge.
Might be worth asking on the Moody owners' website forum?
