Hi, looking at a wiring diagram for a Webasto airtop 2000 and trying to work out what the blue and white wires do. They go to the basic heater control, along with a red and black wire that is switched within the control. The blue and white go into the control, through this item and back out again.

I’ve googled wiring diagram symbols but can’t find anything that looks like it. Anyone know what it is, or what it means?

Ignore where it says LED, that’s on the black wire above.

Cheers

Variable resistor, same as what snowbird said, but.... It is important where the dotted line goes.A dotted line like that implies ganged, as in there are 2 or more devices controlled by the same knob, lever, whatever.
You would see something like that in a combined on/off and volume knob...

edit add:
heres a few resistor types

Potentiometer, it's the temperature control by the look of it.

And it's a potentiometer with one end connected externally to the wiper.

Thank you all. Sounds like these two wires are responsible for tempreture control. For LNG, you can see where the dotted lin goes in this picture. It's the 3500 model, but the same thing as far as the control wiring goes.
