winterising a sealine 255

Hi,
as a new owner winterising is looking a little daunting but this is a shoestring operation with no money for engineers, can anyone help with what I should be doing, I understand the principals but not the methods. the boat has twin mercruiser 135 petrols and is currently on hard standing

I never used to do the full winterise to the Volvo's just change oil, ensure antifreeze was OK (indirect cooling) & use 2 tube heaters in the engine bay & one in the cabin. However this was in the water so freezing was less of an issue. Also pretty sure Merc 135's are direct cooling so you'll have to be careful of what raw water lays in the engines.

I used to have a merc 130hp straight 4 cylinder. From what I can remember As well as changing oil and filters. It had a raw cooling system You should ensure all water is drained from the system There should be drain points I think one on the engine block and one on the manifold. It may be a case of removing hoses to let the water run out. I can't remember. Also introduce "fogging Oil" through the air inlet. Procedure is to run the engine and leave at a fast tickover, spray the oil into the air inlet until the engine runs rough then smokes a lot then dies. When you go to start next season there will be a lot of smoke on first start up but this is normal and will disappear after a few seconds running.
