I need to know if it is advisable to winterise boat engine & domestic water systems for my boat moored in the Thames this winter. Some people have told me to just install tubular heater instead ?

If its in the water it will be fine, I usually run the water tank dry. The only bit thats really vulnerable is the transom shower fitting if you have one.

Depends what engines. Petrol engines are more vulnerable to frost compared to diesel . If diesel use frost protection heater on a thermostat set to cut in when temp falls to 5 degrees.
The main thing is to frost protect any calorifier and I use a frost protection heater although potable antifreeze is an option. I do remove shower heads as these are the main items I have list to frost. Also I drain off as much domestic water as is possible.
A boat out of the water is much more vulnerable to frost damage compared to a boat in the water

we normally just do the following:

take of canopies and replace with tonneau cover
remove all cushions, seats and take home
empty water tank and unscrew transon shower head
put 2 x tube heaters in cabin & one in the engine bay
fill up diesel tank to full
give it a clean before leaving it

It's fine provided you don't have a power failure, not very nice as you sit down for Christmas dinner and its minus 5 outside and your worrying about the power. You can buy wifi systems to monitor.
