Hi all,

I am considering leaving my boat in Turkey for 6 months for the usual winter visit to the uk. However the place does seem a bit of hassle. An enquiry to the customs official at Marmaris yielded the following information.

british citizens can stay 90 days in 180 days by 20 pound visa. your check in clearence with visas will be 250 euro.. when you come here you can apply the RESIDENCE vısa wife.

The residency bit required proof if income and health insurance and some other stuff.

250€ seems a bit steep just to check a boat in given my partner can only stay for a month. Is this the going rate for a 12.6m yacht British flagged?

OK, the Yotty bit.

A yeaR Cruising log for Turkey is 100 EURO all in done by a agent, DONT use Marmaris they have a certain reputation use Datcha.

VISA : This is important!!!!!

You should be able to buy a 90/180 day visa at the port of entry £20 per person, however you can also buy them online but beware there are now several bogus websites selling these and when you get to Turkish immigration you find they don't work, as far as I am aware the Turkish Embassy site is THE only legitimate source.

Lots of he said she said about the next bit but you WILL need a current ICC, I was asked for mine to sail a dinghy at a resort hotel recently!
