How was YOUR weekend?

Cold, sunny and just enough wind from roughly the right direction...
Pleasant company & a very nice pint to finish the day... what more could you want?

No pictures, but I went out on a Hanse 301 trial sail from Swanwick to Portsmouth. Motored about checking stuff, 15-18 knots first on the beam coming out of the Hamble, then up the chuff down Soton water, and everyone went home smiling. Boat sold, boat bought. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Today, throwing stuff off Full Circle, rigged the dehumidifier with a permanent hose down the sink and faffed around a lot promising myself jobs that I probably will have forgotten tomorrow morning.
Ran out of screws, and neede the jig saw to finish the job, so came home.
Now defrosting Rump Steak for manly repast later.
Just pulled first wave of halyards out of the washing machine, second lot in.
Cant decide if I want a beer or a glass of Tinto Collapso now.

Our Saturday went like this (roughly):
- lured the family up to the boat - no sailing, not the weather for it - let's just get the bedding off the boat - install the humidifier and the the girls can explore shoppig in Ipswich.
- picked up bosun's chair at Fox's - "why do we need that?"
- arrive at the boat - hoist women up the mast to fit spreader boots
- lunch - comment on lovely weather - several times
- start engine - to get warm water for washing up
- wolf down lunch
- whilst everyone is still down below - cast off and head for "open water"
- comments from down below - "I think we're moving"
- bit a sailing - only spoiled by prat in Oyster 37 taking unwanted pictures
- back in our berth - offload bedding, rig dehumidifier (B&Q £74.99 - 10L - selfdraining) & heater
- late now - shopping will be for another time
- back to Fox's to hand back bosun's chair
- Oyster 37 owner turns out to be very nice, hospitable chap. Jupiler & coffee.
- repay kindness & hospitality in the form of Adnams Old at Fox's canteen
- stake & ale pie goes well with it (£4.95!!)
- get on A12 - cruise control

To do list this winter
1. Have genoa fixed: done
2. Fit spreader boots: done
3. Dehumidifier: done
4. Heater: done
5. Fit news heads forward: to do next time weather's crap
6. Antifoul: postphoned till April due to prohibitive UK costs.
They: "For a boat this size we only have wooden cradles"
Me: "So?"
They: "The mast will have to come off. Cost £rediculous"
Me: "B*ll*cks"
Will do it in WSKLum (Nieuwpoort) April or May. Total cost €140 = £90

Race 3 of the winter series. 19kts, 7 on board. 4th boat home despite having to do a 720 as I got too close to another boat. Back in the Marina just before the breeze built to 30+ kts and the rain came in. Boat going like a train, full main and full genoa with just a wee ease of the traveller in the big gusts to keep her on her feet. 8.5kts on the reach (GPS) and a contented crew. Looking forward to next week....
