I spent an enjoyable afternoon sorting out the cockpit drains, lots of strong language and hot water, and servicing the winches, delightfully therapeutic as they were solid and now free, while a hooly blew outside.

Just the heads seacocks to sort out and one more
bilge to paint then we might even get all my long list of maintenance jobs finished before we go back in the water. How are you doing?

Well, I did put up a steering wheel to replace the tiller. That involved 2 sessions of 2.5 hours using a small saw to cut through the ruddershaft...

... and we still need to polish the boat...

But it will be some time before the boat is relaunched so I would say not too bad :)

Had to row out to pontoon as road and link bridge underwater. river 6.5 meters above normal level. I don't regularly wear a life jacket, but small dingy and nobody around concentrated the mind greatly.

Continued work on replacing Stork pressure water pump and 40 ltr pressure vessel with a feit 990. going from a reciprocating plunger pump to centrifugal pump, both draw about 25A on 24v! Showers etc are better than home by a long way.

Installed power smoothing circuit between small inverter used to power lap tops at sea, to remove noise on data line. Computer power pack did not like inverter supply. Smoother circuitry taken from 50 inch plasma tv which died last year.( nmea got scramb;led when sony laptop was on charge, was ok with the acer)

I'm doing a lot of interior work on Avocet at present. It's in the garden in a cradle, so I had the luxury of an extension lead, radio 4, AND a fan heater! I wouldn't say it was windy, but the boat was moving almost as much in it's cradle as on a mooring, I think!

Lesson learnt If it's blowing ! ! If your boats on the hard and you have to access it via ladder, make sure the ladder is tied off at the top. Spent 1/2hr last weekend waiting for some kind soul to put the ladder back up.

All done and launch booked, not yet though.
wind genny fitted, Nasa AIS fitted, old chartplotter removed, much below waterline epoxy work done and faired (hulls had been soda blasted), Sonic engine leg removed and serviced and new parts fitted then refitted and painted, 4 Blakes seacocks serviced 2 were seized solid and took two days to free them, Anchor chain marked for depths, kedge chain spliced to anchorplait, all lockers cleaned and cleared of previous debris from previous owners clutter, leaks traced (good weather for that) and sealed, windows resealed, droopy linings sorted, Eberspacher (which only worked once last year) serviced and all contacts cleaned and remade and all working perfectly, duff light fitting replaced in heads, sails valeted and repaired (not by me but had to take 'em there and collect), new tracks fitted to boom for stackpack bolt ropes, water tanks cleaned, diesel tank drained and cleaned out, massive clean inside and out and all internal woodwork polished, dinghy wheels fitted and then finally antifouled there may have been a few smaller jobs that I've forgotten to list here but that is the jist of it. All work carried out through January . . . . . . . . . . . . would have taken half the time in the summer no doubt, if we have one
