Winter in Scotland

Relaunch in March could be a problem if you need to antifoul first. It will probably be both very cold and very wet.

Not our experience. We generally stay afloat, but lift for a day to do the antifoul most years in March, for the last decade or so.
In fact pay somebody to do the painting, as the price of antifoul is now so high the labour costs are relatively immaterial and they can choose a good day to do it

Not sure if anyone mentioned Silvers at Roseneath. Although I can't say for certain, I suspect they will be offering good deals. The last time I went over there it looked very busy on the hard. Other than that I don't think there are any bad places to winter your boat as we are pretty fortunate up here for facilities. Our boat is in Kip which IMHO offers much better shelter than Largs/Ardrossan/Troon which I have always found windier and hence freezing in the winter. I suspect JWD might be quite sheltered for the winter. But in all honesty none are a bad choice so I would just base my choice on price, location and whatever else is important to you.

+1 on Dumbarton. Really helpful staff and inside or outside storage available. Also not sure I’ve seen a better handler operator of the launching vehicle, cradle or slings. They rig and de rig the mast for the sailors too. Real professionals.
