Just curious:

In the US most people haul their boats out of the water and store them on the hard for the winter (nearly six months, in many cases).

Now, I like to imagine that your average British yottie is made of sterner stuff, but:

In Finland the sea is frozen a few months every year (winter) so it's better to haul it out. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

sometimes haul her out, sometimes leave her in and use her. depends how much cash is in the bank and what work needs to be done.

For many yotties here, particularly those on swinging moorings, haul out is mandatory due to insurance restrictions. Boats can deteriorate faster in winter conditions on open moorings. In my area most boats are on moorings and very few if any stay afloat during november to march. There are only a couple of marinas and there only a minority haul out.
