Towards the end of next week I am trying to hit the French/ Belgum coast between Boulogne and Ostend on a booze run.
Has anybody any info or recommendations on getting wine etc (duty paid of coure) delivered to the marina. I dont fancy hiring a car or filling up a taxi.

Cheers
Matt

In Calais, there's a Chinese guy who operates out of the square about three doors down from the P+O office. Absolutely classic. Loads whatever you buy into his car and struggles down the ramp to the boat to deliver it.

Very friendly helpful chap. But from experience a lot of places will deliver a decnt sized order if you arrange it before purchase.

Good luck!

Chas

I doubt if they deliver but Boulogne has a supermarket with incredibly cheap wine by UK standards within half a mile of the marina. I have one of those aluminium trolleys I take with me and just wheel it back to the boat stacked with cartons of wine bottles.

David Rainsbury who writes for PBO accused me of having a wine list after one of my wine buying expeditions at Boulogne.

I have never found a supermarket at Calais within trolley distance, but Dunkerque has a LIDL that is convenient for most of the marinas.

In Ostend go into Royal North Sea Yacht Club Marina

Go into the clubhouse once you're sorted and ask for the booze list

Fill out form and hand to steward

Booze arrives on your boat 10am next morning

V cheap prices

V nice people
