Any idea why there is so much green algae in the hamble?

BA pilot (co-pilot with low hours?) made a bit of a hash of keeping it stable in the last mile, overcompensated by speeding up, then made really quite "firm contact" with the runway after an early flare. Most likely all within safe margins for a 767, but I'm not sure the owners of the bags in the overhead lockers that popped open and crashed into the aisle would agree.
