If you have owned or skippered a Windy 31 Scirrocco I would appreciate hearing about it, good and bad points. This is research for an article on buying one.
Well I guess there's more to be said about what to check upon purchase of an old, rather than a new boat.
And the Scirocco 31 is a lovely classic - good choice, in this respect.
That said, Greg, I'm afraid I don't know her enough to give you any smart suggestion.
Good luck for your article.
We used to own one (31) and had it for about a year - it was a 1995 model, if I remember rightly.
Good points; great, sociable cockpit; very simple accomodation that worked very well; the aft cabin was pretty good for a 31 footer - handling and ride were good.
Not-so-good points; I had Mercruiser engines and they had a few problems (not really the fault of the boat); some of the engineering had not been thought through that well (i.e; domestic water pump screwed to the underside of the aft bunk). Also the electrical system was not well laid out at all.
Overall though, I would say a good boat and if I was in the market for a 30-odd footer, I'd certrainly buy another, albeit newer model.
