just entered as new user Heidi. I have lived on a ferro Endurance 35 for 19years and completed a very slow circumnavigation (15 years) with side voyages using a Hydrovane. I obtained it 2nd hand so it was not a case of careful selection. However with my tiller steered boat it worked well. It's poorest point of control is with the wind on the quarter but adustment of mainsail/mizzen area helped. I believe all windvanes have problem with quartering winds. Downwind in the Trades she sails as if on rails, and on the wind a windvane is hardly needed. I would like to try a windpilot on an Endurance but too costly just to experiment. cheers
